My Approach

supporting the multi-layered being.

How do we view ourselves and our deepest energies? How do we appropriately come to the aid of the body with our awareness or to the aid of our awareness through our body?

I believe we are constantly in a healing process. But there are moments when we need the hands and heart of another to help us. These may be moments of physical suffering and pain, emotional pain, acute or chronic problems, or simply a sense that we would like help with a stage of our own inner growth and transformation.

I like to meet a 'problem' wherever it is within the multi-layered nature of being human and work with it as skillfully as I am able with respect, clean focus, and no agenda other than to support your authentic process.  Craniosacral Therapy is my primary template for a session but I will use physical skills, 'energy' skills, word skills, sound-vibration, according to what intuitively feels right. I see all of these dimensions of experience as parts of a unified field or Ground of Being where ultimately there is no separation, only Being. Sometimes we need to work with something asserting itself separately in order for it to release and expand into the whole.

About Me

I do not remember a time when I was not interested in the blending of the physical natural world with the imaginative, psychological, and spiritual in human experience. I have always felt sensitive to the subtlety of the body and to its interactive energies. This sensitivity has grown through practice, time, and learning to trust it.

My primary formal training is in Craniosacral Therapy which began in 1996. I was drawn to its subtlety, complexity, but also its humble depth of 'listening' to and respecting the body's own inner physician or innate wisdom. The Upledger Institute, as well as the well-known structural body of training,  also offered a pioneering training in SomatoEmotional Release, a technique of communicating with intelligences or aspects of consciousness and memory within the body tissues in order to release  locked-in trauma or unuseful conditioning impacting negatively on the body or state of being. This is where I felt at home; working with all these 'layers' of the body's energy and wisdom. I went on to train in SomatoEmotional Release, Therapeutic Imagery and Dialoguing, and working with the brain/ central nervous system.

Since then I have gradually developed and integrated methods of blending together poetic language, imagery, energy, and body-focus; formulating processes that I feel enhance each other and fill in some of the gaps between working with different aspects of ourselves. These 'layers' of our being - physical, emotional, symbolic, poetic, creative, conceptual, non-verbal, energetic, spiritual, primal, intuitive, unitive - I see them all as layers of trees in a densely woven forrest. The trees are all connected, by the air around them, by the ground, by their own silent communication. The unity of the forrest is what makes it magical. And that unity is always there, always sustaining, always inviting, always creative, always growing in the direction of the light.

Philosophy of  Health and Healing

How can we have a unified psyche in an objectified body? (or an objectified world). In our efforts to relate more subject-to-subject with 'nature',

we sometimes find the hardest part of nature to relate authentically to is that which is right under our noses; our own body.

My intention is to support a more authentic relationship with our own bodily-being. In inhabiting the ground of our physical being we may experience a unity that supports our participation in a more absolute Ground of Being.
